David Johnson

"Ever striving to depict in his paintings, both accurately and with artistic excellence, the things we love & esteem in life."

It all started in April of 1987, while trying to satisfy a deep yearning to do some form of artistic expression, he thus began his journey as a self-taught artist and by August of 1993 he had progressed to the point where he was able to embark on a career as a professional artist.

Born in 1953, he grew up on a sugar cane farm estate near Mtubatuba in Zululand, which was managed his father. In 1971 he matriculated from Glenwood Boys High in Durban.

Success in the field of cattle art has been such that top members of the Nguni Cattle Breeders Association have commissioned him to portray their stud cattle. Since 2006 he has been commissioned to paint the trophy portrait of the champion bull of the prestigious Vliessentraal/Studbook Special Performance Test Class Annual Competition.
